Start In Up aims to explore how start-ups feature in all aspects of our lives. Our aim is to explore how projects, places and people that are often neglected can be transformed into new beginnings. We are always starting in the up!

A startup is a company designed to grow fast, most commonly associated with technology and development. At Start in Up, we want to break away from typical associations.
We believe that anything can be a start up – a project, a trip, a relationship, a country, a life. We want to do something more.
We want to create life-changing experiences that will help you see the potential our world already has to offer.

I came, I saw, I conquered
In the Beginning
Our first project, "Once I Was a House", transformed a pre-demolished villa in Caesarea, Israel into a living, breathing artistic masterpiece. In a 72-hour creative extravaganza, over 80 painters, sculptures, photographers, creators, inventors, scientists, and thinkers joined forces to transform one end into an unforgettable beginning.

Startin Up is not about breaking records. It is about innovation, transformation and trying to look at the world around us in a new and improved way. We believe that with creativity, passion and teamwork, neglected details of our lives can be reinvented to contain beauty, hope, and change. It all begins with you.
We urge you to think as much out of the box as you can. Is there an old building in your city that can be transformed into a local science center? A broken down bus that can become a soup kitchen for the needy? We all have something that we can give, or change, or improve.
An invention has to make sense in the world it finishes in, not in the world it started.
Starting from scratch is more than often an intimidating ethos. It is important for the Startin Up team that nothing starts from scratch, but rather incorporates things and locations that already exist. Every milestone from there can only go up.
The most important feature of Startin Up projects is change. We have found that good people, fun music, delicious food and necessarily legal permission (trust us on this one) can help your event become a success.

Start in Up has only three basic rules in order for your project to join our database:
1. Originality: Your idea should be your own. If you have a vision, write to us describing why you believe it is truly unique.
2. Creativity: We believe that Start in Up projects should be based on creativity, art or science. Tell us how these are manifested in your vision.
3. Collaboration: Startin Up ventures must always involve more than one person. Creation involves teamwork, connectedness and cooperation. We believe in the strength of multiple minds, hearts and hands!

The Cause
Startin Up aims to have had a project on each continent by 2014 and each country soon after. We are excited to meet our collaborators.
It is imperative that each Startin Up event allocates a percentage of their revenue, if there is one, towards local charities that help transformations and change. In ‘Once I Was a House’, we donated fifty percent of the proceeds of sold art to two local charities.
You can't depend on your judgement when your imagination is out of focus.
Lastly, but perhaps most importantly - welcome to the team. Every person involved in a Startin Up project, no matter how small, will be added to our growing list of collaborators and contributors. There is no CEO, CFO, chairman, or president of Startin Up. Each project can and should have allocated directors and sponsors, but in the global Startin Up database we are all in this together.
